How are members enforcing no smoking in work vehicles/equipment?
Workers are informed of the smoking policy during site orientation and mining orientation, workers are issued a policy and procedure manual (see excerpts below), which they must read and acknowledge they have read and understood the material in the manual.

1.4 Smoking in Vehicles
No smoking is allowed in any vehicle/equipment as per Site policy. This will include all methods of smoking including but not limited to tobacco, vapouring devices and e-cigarettes.
What type of signage do you have? Do you have any stickers or decals inside or outside the vehicles stating no smoking?
We do not have any signage or decals in our vehicles or equipment.

1.7 Critical Safety Violations
Violation of the policies below will result in consideration for termination on the 1st offence:
Violation of the smoking policy but not limited to smoking in equipment. This will include all methods of smoking including but not limited to tobacco, vaping devices, and e-cigarettes.
Are “smoke breaks” track? Or are workers eligible to take as many smokes breaks as needed?
We do not have scheduled smoke breaks. Workers are allowed to smoke outside of their vehicles and equipment when there are production delays, or in designated area during lunch breaks, or when fueling.
How are members enforcing no smoking in work vehicles/equipment?
-Company policy reviewed during orientations, at toolbox talks and safety meetings. Posted throughout facilities.
-Vaping and smoking in the cab of equipment or a company/contractor vehicle on site is considered an incident.

-No, not for equipment or vehicles. We do for buildings and facilities.
How are workers reprimanded if they are caught smoking in work vehicles/equipment?
-Follow our disciplinary procedure which can include verbal warning, written warning, and forfeiture of bonus or salary increases, suspension without pay, or other measures including termination of employment.
In these type of incidents HR is involved.

-No, there isn’t a limit on these, however if the employee is taking advantage of it their supervisor will say something to them, maybe a verbal warning would follow.
- We used to use no smoking signs in the vehicles, now it is just embedded in the culture, we no longer use signage within all the vehicles.
- We usually give our folks one chance, if you get one warning, that’s it. Next time we suspend for a determined length of time with no pay.. Used to be 4 days as that was the weekly shift (4x4).
- Employees can smoke during their coffee breaks and that is all that is permitted.

• How are members enforcing no smoking in work vehicles/equipment? Some locations have decals for the vehicles, its enforced upon hire, and through our progressive disciplinary policy
• What type of signage do you have? Do you have any stickers or decals inside or outside the vehicles stating no smoking. they are equipped with the no smoking decals, they wear off overtime and new ones sometimes are forgot to be reordered.
