Does your company follow a specific colour scheme for hardhats to indicate position/roles or experience level?

Mine workers and trades are all orange.

Mine Rescue is Black.

No other colors at this time.

We use Yellow hardhats for new employees and once your off your probation you get a white hardhat for the remainder of your career. If you were to join the ERT team you get a black hardhat to indicate to everyone you are an ERT member.
  • Lime green for new hires 30-90 days. This would be applicable when they are first hired or if they are transferred into a brand-new work area.
  • White for HSE staff
  • Dark blue for our mechanical and Welding staff- this is due to the rating though

Looking at adding Green for safety reps 

We use Green for new hire, they have to pass their on the job training and training requirement to get a blue hard hat (full time and trained employee). 

All company employees where white hardhats, all embedded contractors working alongside company employees wear blue hardhats. We do not have a Green hat program.

Operations - Company provides a single colour hardhat with company logo for supervision and craft workers: Silver / Grey  c/w  black logo – Reflective stripes are added.

Maintenance  / Shop Personnel : Fibremetal (Blue) to accommodate welding helmets, face shields etc. Reflective stripes are added.

Blue/Orange – Employee

Green -New worker

Black – Rescue team

Red – Emergency services

Yellow – high voltage

Contractor – any color except black or red.

all new employees for the first three months to wear a green hard hat to indicate that they are new on the site  and our trained emergency rescue team are the only individuals who can wear red hard hats. All other workers can wear any other colour as long as they’re CSA approved.

We all have white hard hats, other than Mine Rescue which is the standard black.  Any other color hard hat onsite is associated with each contractor.
  • Green hard hat for new hires and people working through employment probationary period.  We also have utilized the green hat program during organization changes with people transferring into a new area/department.
  • Blue hard hat for full time employees.

Mine rescue wears red hard hats

we have all Emergency Services coloured Red and our AMSA team is black.
